Our philosophy

About Us

A central Exeter nursing home specialising in care for older people, with long- and short-term nursing support and close working relationships with local healthcare professionals.

A life dedicated to care

A central Exeter nursing home specialising in care for older people, with long- and short-term nursing support and close working relationships with local healthcare professionals.

Across BN Care Group, the shared values are kindness, independence, dignity, respect, privacy, choice and collaboration. Those values are intended to be visible in the small decisions of everyday care: how people are spoken to, how routines are protected, how families are involved and how staff respond when someone’s needs change.

Our approach

The Dales provides nursing care for older people on both long- and short-term stays, including respite and palliative or end-of-life care. The team works with local health professionals and Hospiscare, with care planned around dignity, privacy, comfort and individual need.

People you can talk to

Care decisions are personal. We want families to know who is leading the home or group and to have a clear route to ask questions.

Shay — Wellbeing Coordinator

Shay

Wellbeing Coordinator

I have always been involved in health and social care since I was 20 years old. I have worked as a care assistant, senior carer and then promoted to a Health care trainer as I am passionate about delivering high quality care.

As the wellbeing co-ordinator my role is to bring people together in the home to start new friendships, to give 1-1 wellbeing support to people in times of need and to help residents find confidence and comfort in their new circumstances and home. At The Dales we work with many local businesses like the RAMM Exeter museum, G-Fitness Exercise for Everyone, Animals2U and Mini Concerts Performers to provide a wide and varied choice of activities for our residents to enjoy.

Anita — Chef

Anita

Chef

After 30 yrs as a Senior Carer, I decided to sidestep into the kitchen and become a chef here at The Dales. My time in care had taught me about the different diets people with swallowing difficulties needed and I felt I could really bring something to the team.

I have a passion for cooking outside of work and wanted to combine two things I cared about with the opportunity to still be hands on but also ensure that our ladies and gentlemen here at The Dales had nutritious, safe and healthy meals to eat. I love using local businesses to supply our fruit, vegetables and meat and the whole team here in the kitchen take great pride in what we produce for everyone.

We specialise in home cooking, meals that our residents would have cooked themselves for example, Toad in the hole, Casseroles, Roast Dinners and plenty of deserts and sweet treats.
