“Excellent facilities & care”
“We chose this home as the staff were all very friendly, the facilities were excellent and nothing seemed too much trouble. The rooms were always spotless and the home always had a friendly atmosphere. We particularly liked the spacious room with a lovely view over the city and the green space of the park opposite.”
John E, Son of resident
“They go above & beyond”
“The Dales staff nursed my mum during her end of life care for cancer. They all treated Mum with such care and compassion. She was treated with dignity throughout and all staff were so friendly. They were professional but always seemed to go above and beyond, truly dedicated to their vocation. I’m so glad she got to spend her final days with such wonderful people looking after her. It’s a lovely bright home, kept so clean by a really dedicated team. Thank you all.”
Sue M, Daughter of resident
“Warm community”
“The kindness and professionalism of the team at The Dales Nursing Home is exceptional. The level of care my grandmother receives is second to none. We especially appreciate how the carers make an effort to retain her independence while keeping her safe and comfortable. The warm community feeling makes all the difference.”
Sophie G, Niece of resident
“Amazing care”
“Choosing The Dales for our aunt has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. The staff genuinely go above and beyond to make her feel loved and secure. The facilities are wonderful, and the emphasis on residents' dignity and comfort is clear in everything they do. We're so grateful for the amazing care they provide.”

What are our values?
To be recognised as a kind, passionate, and committed provider offering care determined by individual needs, in homely accommodation, by caring staff, showing dignity and respect to all residents.
Kindness
Independence
Dignity
Respect
Privacy
Choice
Collaboration
The above values are at the core of everything we do, and they run throughout The Dales and all BN Care Group homes. Our teams are trained to respect them, encourage them, and instil them. They make up the foundation of all that The Dales Nursing Home is.
Marie Brown, Manager. Marie started her career as a nurse and moved to The Dales Nursing Home as Matron in 2003. She is highly respected amongst the Exeter medical community. Marie has a wealth of experience in nursing care and her ethos of ‘kindness first’ is at the heart of everything the home does.
Madison, Operations Manager. Here at The Dales, I actively support the Registered Manager in the Operational running of the home. I take care of our internal Health and Safety and operational excellence which is governed by CQC and HSE. I also manage Residents stays in terms of financial contributions or local authority funding and contracts.
Roger, Nursing Assistant. Roger has a background as a paramedic and joined the team three years ago. Roger is a well liked, valued, and respected member of the team. He is great in emergencies and provides invaluable support to the registered nursing team.
Monique, Senior Care. I began working in healthcare at 18 because I was drawn to the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives. Helping others and knowing my work has a direct impact gives me a strong sense of purpose and fulfilment. Healthcare offers a unique blend of technical skill and human connection, which keeps me engaged and inspired. What stands out to me most is the support and learning opportunities that healthcare provides. Every day is a chance to grow, adapt, and learn something new. The field is also grounded in values like empathy and resilience, and the kindness shared by everyone involved is evident daily. Being part of a community that’s dedicated to caring for others has enriched my life and keeps me committed to this path.
Shay, Wellbeing Coordinator. I have always been involved in health and social care since I was 20 years old. I have worked as a care assistant, senior carer and then promoted to a Health care trainer as I am passionate about delivering high quality care. As the wellbeing co-ordinator my role is to bring people together in the home to start new friendships, to give 1-1 wellbeing support to people in times of need and to help residents find confidence and comfort in their new circumstances and home. At The Dales we work with many local businesses like the RAMM Exeter museum, G-Fitness Exercise for Everyone, Animals2U and Mini Concerts Performers to provide a wide and varied choice of activities for our residents to enjoy.
Rachel, Clinical Lead. As a fourth generation nurse with nearly 20 years experience, my career has predominantly been in in Critical care including working in Intensive care during Covid. I have nursed in the NHS, the private sector, New Zealand and now in social care! I have two young children and enjoy introducing them to local traditions- Wassailing, The Green Man festivals, wild swimming and beach suppers. My considered approach means that everyone is treated with fairness and equality and I pride myself in being an advocate for all in the Dales care.
Anita, Chef. After 30 yrs as a Senior Carer, I decided to sidestep into the kitchen and become a chef here at The Dales. My time in care had taught me about the different diets people with swallowing difficulties needed and I felt I could really bring something to the team. I have a passion for cooking outside of work and wanted to combine two things I cared about with the opportunity to still be hands on but also ensure that our ladies and gentlemen here at The Dales had nutritious, safe and healthy meals to eat. I love using local businesses to supply our fruit, vegetables and meat and the whole team here in the kitchen take great pride in what we produce for everyone. We specialise in home cooking, meals that our residents would have cooked themselves for example, Toad in the hole, Casseroles, Roast Dinners and plenty of deserts and sweet treats.
